PS- I would even appreciate such advise like “sounds like you are out of luck”, or “try Sony Tech Support” as I am pretty much at my end of the rope with this problem, but wanted to try a forum such as this before ponying up to Sony. Sorry to be so long winded, but I figured best to give you all as much info as I could to try and find a solution. I did watch the system resources during the failed renders and the CPU was at around 85-95% almost the entire time, with moments when it is up at 98-100% so not sure if that is an issue or not. It gets saved to the hard drive in the machine first, then burned to a DVD and then I import the video into Vegas from the burned DVD. So I have to transfer the video from the camera to a stand alone HD/DVD recorder (the type you use with TV).
I have a Panasonic PV-GS200 that the DV port does not work on. The video sources are actually a VOB format. The CPU has it’s own fan and that fan did run as well. It froze.Ħ) I did read some issues with CPU overheating, so I opened up the computer case and blew air into it while rendering and it froze. Not sure what happened to not have the audio there, but did read where the audio does not get re-rendered to save time, so maybe that is it for the audio (remember, I am a greenhorn and NLE!).Ĥ) I tried rendering to different file types such as avi and mov and they too froze.ĥ) I tried rendering to a different hard disk drive than the parent material exists on. I can also add that the one piece that did render out, I watched and it did not have any audio. One of these was able to finish the render process, but the other 2 I could never get to finish rendering. dll's and executable to allow for > 2 gig of ram to be used.Ģ) Freed up system resources by running MSCONFIG and disabling everything in the start menu and all non-MS services apps in the 'Services' section.ģ) Tried breaking the project (about 35 minutes long with a few plug-in's like Sony transitions, simple fades) into 3 smaller pieces. The same problem with rendering happened with that machine, so I went back to the Vista machine for the rest of my fixes, which wereġ) Edited some of the.

I did read in some other forums that Vista may be an issue, so I did install the software on another machine which is running XP Media Center Edition (SP3), with an AMD Athlon 7750 Dual Core Processor, 2.71 GHz with 2.75 Gig of ram. The program is on a box running Windows Vista Home Premium, with a AMD Phenom II X4 Processor, 3.00GHz, with 8 Gig of Ram. It does not crash, but I do have to close it using task manager as it is unresponsive. I even let the system run for 24 hours once it had frozen and the status did not change, so I think I can safely say that the program is freezing.
The elapsed time and estimated time keep counting, but the preview either freezes or turns black and I have let the process continue until the estimated time reaches zero and then the elapsed time keeps going (have let it go to 70 minutes when it should have taken 9 minutes based on the estimated time). The problem I encounter is the render process stops suddenly at different stages of the render process (sometimes as low as 2%, sometimes around 20% done, sometimes 50%, sometimes as much as 90% done).

I am having problems with the rendering process using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum- Version 9.0b (Build 92). I am almost as green to video editing as you can get, so please bear with me. What do you need to know about free software? Hi.
